Tarrytown yards climb from the Hudson up toward the Tarrytown Lakes, and most owners here want two things: a level place to sit outside and a wall that stays where it was built.
Our shop sits on Tarrytown Road in White Plains, and following Route 119 west brings us straight into the village, so Tarrytown is one of our shortest drives. Properties here run from narrow lots off Main Street to wooded parcels along Neperan Road and homes that look out at the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. Plenty of those yards fall away sharply toward the river, which is why patios, steps and retaining walls make up so much of our Tarrytown work.
We also handle the steady side of property care: weekly mowing, bed maintenance, mulching and cleanups for houses, condos and the office campuses along the Route 119 corridor. Every job is done by our own family-run crews, never subcontractors, and we can talk it through with you in English or Spanish. Hardscape installs book up between May and October, so spring is a good time to get a design on paper.
What Tarrytown properties ask of a landscaper
01
Usable outdoor space on a sloped lot
Many Tarrytown backyards offer one flat strip and then a bank. We cut terraces into the grade and finish them with pavers or natural stone over a compacted base, pitched so water moves away from the house. The result is a dining area or fire pit spot you can actually use without fighting the hill every summer.
02
Walls and steps that hold the hillside
Older dry-laid walls on the streets above Broadway often lean or bulge after decades of frost. We rebuild them in natural stone or segmental block with clean drainage stone and pipe behind, and we set stone steps on proper footings so they do not shift after the first freeze-thaw cycle.
03
Professional grounds along Route 119
Office buildings and multi-family properties near White Plains Road need entrances and parking islands that look sharp on a Monday morning. We run scheduled mowing, edging, pruning and seasonal color for commercial clients, and we keep the same crew on your property so they learn the site and its quirks.

What clients say
“Roman, is the owner of this family-operated landscape design business. He is exceptional. Our gardens are the envy of the neighborhood, full credit to him. Before Roman worked for us, our landscaping was pitiful, long-neglected and badly overrun. It's been transformed into a neighborhood showcase. Stunning, colorful flower beds; lush green lawns; trees and scrubs are healthy and trimmed.”
Can you build a patio on the slope behind my Tarrytown house?
Usually, yes. Most sloped yards can take a patio if part of it is cut into the hill and part is held by a short retaining wall. At the free estimate we look at the grade, where the water runs and how you will walk out from the house, then sketch a couple of layouts for you.
My house is near the historic part of the village. Can you still redo the front walk?
Yes, as a rule. Some village projects go through a design review, especially where the street has historic character. We help you find out what the village expects before we order materials, and we can suggest stone and brick that suit an older facade.
How fast can someone come look at my yard?
Tarrytown is a short drive from our White Plains base, so free estimates are usually on the calendar within one to three days. Call or text (914) 467-9927, or send a WhatsApp message, and we will set a time to walk the property with you.
