Planting plans built around your property's light, soil and deer pressure, then installed by the same family team that designs them.
Good planting starts with the site, not the catalog. A front yard in full sun near Long Island Sound has different needs than a shaded backyard under old oaks in northern Westchester, where deer browse almost anything tender. We look at light through the day, the soil (often clay or rocky glacial fill), drainage, wind and salt spray near the water, and how you use the space. Then we choose trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses that suit zone 6b/7a and the specific spot, with an eye on how big they will be in ten years, not just how they look on planting day.
Design can be as simple as reworking one tired foundation bed or as broad as a full front-to-back plan with walkways, a patio and privacy screening. We prepare beds properly, loosening and amending the soil before anything goes in, set plants at the right depth and spacing, and finish with mulch and a clear watering plan. Many clients ask for low-maintenance plantings, native plants for pollinators, or screening between neighbors. If you change your mind about where a plant should go during the project, we adjust. Our own crews do the installation, and we stay involved as the garden grows in.

We put together a layout and plant list sized for your space and budget, and walk you through the choices. Larger projects can be phased over more than one season.
Our crew removes old or failing plants, prepares and amends the soil, places plants for your approval before planting, sets them at the correct depth and finishes with mulch and edging.
New plantings need steady water while roots establish. We leave clear instructions, check back on how things are taking hold, and if something is not right, we come back and fix it.
In Westchester, the best planting windows are spring, roughly April through early June, and early fall, from late August into October. Cooler temperatures and more reliable rain help roots establish before summer heat or winter cold. Fall is especially good for trees, shrubs and perennials, since the soil stays warm while the air cools, and it is also the time to plant spring bulbs. Summer planting is possible with careful watering. Design work can happen any time of year, and planning over the winter puts you near the front of the line for spring installation.

“Roman and his team have an extraordinary work ethic. We have utilized his services for a few years and recently had him do some landscape design work in the front of our home. The completed job exceeded our expectations!”
Both. Roman and our team design the plan and our own crews install it, so the person who chose a plant knows exactly where it goes and why. You can start with a single bed or a full property plan. Larger projects are often phased over one or two seasons to spread out the work and let earlier plantings settle in.
Deer pressure is real in much of northern Westchester, and no plant is fully deer-proof when they are hungry. We lean on plants deer usually avoid, such as many ornamental grasses, boxwood, and strongly scented or fuzzy-leaved perennials, and steer away from favorites like hostas, arborvitae and tulips in exposed spots. Fencing or repellents help where you want more variety.
Yes. Common approaches are a layered row of evergreens, a mix of evergreen and flowering shrubs for a more natural look, a fence softened with plantings, or a combination. Before recommending a screen, we consider how fast each option fills in, how wide it grows, how much sun it gets and how much room you have along the property line.
Yes. We regularly use native trees, shrubs and perennials that support pollinators and birds and handle local conditions well once established. We can also reduce lawn area in favor of planted beds, use organic fertilizers and design for less watering. If you have specific goals, like a pollinator garden or a meadow-style area, tell us and we will plan around them.
That depends on the design, and we plan with your answer in mind. A low-maintenance plan uses fewer, tougher plants with room to grow, a good layer of mulch and clean bed edges. In the first season, the main job is watering. After that, most gardens need seasonal cleanups, mulch and pruning, which we can handle on a maintenance schedule if you prefer.
